Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Previous experience working in a healthcare environment. Experience with Linear and Logistic probabilities models and R packages: Golem, Plumber, Highcharter, Tidyverse. Experience with data analysis methods for data quality control and data harmonization. Proficiency with Extract, transform, load (ETL) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) methodologies. Experience in SQL and working knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Python, R.
Brief Description of Duties: The Software Engineer will specifically target issues related to the impact of COVID-19 on clinical practices. The successful candidate will develop and deploy dashboards that can be used to carry out efforts to develop clinical protocols, support health care quality efforts, and to improve coding and documentation. The incumbent will also participate in the continued development of core database and analytics infrastructure for curation and management of COVID-19 clinical, laboratory, and imaging data with a specific focus on creating high quality validated data elements relating to COVID-19 patients and patients undergoing COVID-19 testing. The successful incumbent will have excellent communication and writing skills.
Develop, maintain, and deploy dashboards
Present data at different levels of granularity for user consumption. Implement proper security and access control in dashboards to protect patient privacy and sensitive information.
Develop a workflow analysis system to track various metrics related to Covid-19:
Track proper metrics on Covid-19 data in the database and ensure that data integrity and quality is maintained to present an accurate representation of the status of covid-19 cases at Stony Brook.
Perform quality assurance testing and code reviews
Conduct analyses on Covid-19 data which consists of a rich set of data elements and requires efficient and advanced analyses to understand issues related to the impact of Covid-19 on clinical practices. Data quality and integrity are critical to the successful execution of analyses and maximizing the use of the Covid-19 related data elements.
Release updates for a customer base with minimal problems or regression failure.
Work closely with the project team and prepare project reports on programming specification, activities.
Other duties as assigned.
