The Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks a Director of Facilities and Plant Operations, who has a proven track record of leadership and success managing facilities maintenance & physical plant operations for a campus environment, which includes the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Weiler Hospital and other Montefiore East Bronx locations. The selected candidate is an effective leader who has excellent interpersonal, communications, and relationship-building skills. This position ensures prompt and exceptional facilities maintenance and plant operation service delivery for all campus constituents.
Oversees all aspects of facilities maintenance (including groundskeeping) for all campuses, their associated properties, and the physical plant.
Provide oversight and leadership to ensure the medical facilities are in compliance with all aspects of The Joint Commissions Environment of Care and Life Safety regulations including the Utility Management program;
Continually assess all services and areas and ensure improvements are made to maintain all regulatory standards, including those set by CMS, DOH, DOB, FDNY, EPA and others;
In collaboration with internal and external constituents, plan and supervise installation and modifications to the physical plant ensuring changes are made within code requirements and is completed timely and within planned scope;
Oversight of departmental budgets, work order management system and appropriate distribution of resources for the continued maintenance and operations of campus facilities and infrastructure;
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for the physical plant and facility; adhere to asset preventative maintenance scope and schedules; ensure minimal downtime of campus assets by proactively identifying and correcting preventive maintenance deficiencies;
Initiate safety programs that provide employees with formal training on physical plant equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment while mitigating risk;
Effectively manage a facilities inventory, to include the development and implementation of a supply management system and operation standards. Ensures appropriate cost controls and management, levels of inventory, and vendor relationships. Oversight of audits to ensure compliance with accounting, management, operation, and College standards;
Responsible for the effective management of staff including hiring, on-boarding, professional development and performance assessment;
Maintain a collaborative relationship with all facilities staff and campus constituents;
Continually assess services and ensure improvements are made to maintain service delivery standards;
Perform other duties as assigned; this position should be available to respond to campus emergencies, as necessary
