About the Opportunity: Provide comprehensive career services to Northeastern learners, including counseling and advising for undergraduates, graduate students and alumni across the global Northeastern network in the areas of career development, selection of major and/or career, graduate school preparation and job acquisition.
Responsibilities: Create and deliver seminars, networking events, and programs to meet evolving needs of learners regarding career development topics with a potential focus on the delivery of experiential learning programs including Husky Treks and others. Manage the Career Ambassador program including recruiting, training and supervising 10+career peer advisors annually.
This role provides personalized and iterative career advising and services to students and alumni throughout the Northeastern global network and is expected to embrace a self-directed and life-long learning mindset. Delivers and interprets a variety of career assessments. Develops and delivers workshops and panels. Serves as liaison to a college and builds relationships with co-op and academic faculty, academic advisors, and alumni within that college to co-create relevant, targeted career programming. Assists the department with large and small-scale events such as career fairs, networking nights, orientation sessions, career studio coverage and other career initiatives.
May also provide support and coordination for programs, resources, and services in the Northeastern University ecosystem that address the intersection of career and identity to support the professional development and career trajectory of marginalized learner populations (including students of color, first generation and low income, LGBTQA+, International, students with disabilities and other underrepresented intersections of identity) across all Northeastern campuses.
One evening per work for presentation of seminars, workshops and as needed to meet student needs.
Qualifications: Provide the minimum education, experience, and skills required to perform the job successfully.
Master's degree in career development, higher education or demonstrably relevant field is required and relevant industry experience is preferred. One-three years of career advising experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of current labor trends and local, regional and national job searching strategies.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated skill in presenting / teaching. Experience working with and affirming diverse cultures and backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Excellent organizational, event and program management skills, including detail-oriented capacity for building efficient systems and operations. Strong technology skills including webinar delivery.
Capacity to work one evening per week.
