The Senior Associate Director is responsible for planning, evaluating, and implementing a strong departmental program for assigned area/region. This position will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of volunteer engagement efforts for the upcoming fundraising effort focused on scholarship, fellowship, and other student support. This person also will work closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campaign Initiatives & Engagement on other priority areas of focus for this initiative and future comprehensive campaigns.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead campaign and special initiative volunteer engagement efforts: Create job descriptions and engagement plans for volunteers on a planning committee and public phase executive committee, as well as ad hoc opportunities, such as focus groups. Additionally, work with staff partners in University Advancement to create plans for engaging other volunteer committees, cabinets, and councils. Execute these plans, including focus groups, meeting planning, preparing materials and talking points, communications, and other related responsibilities.
Develop and implement staff education and training programs related to campaigns and special initiatives in partnership with other senior leaders in University Advancement.
Participate in other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campaign Initiatives & Engagement.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Base pay commensurate with experience.
Experience navigating a complex organization and partnering with staff in other departments on projects and programs.
Event planning experience.
Experience preparing fundraising-related talking points, presentations (such as PowerPoint) and other communication materials.
Superior written and oral communication skills, especially related to sharing mission-critical priorities to internal and external audiences.
Ability to use MicrosoftWord, PowerPoint, and other related technology.
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and a broad constituency of alumni and friends.
Possess a strong work ethic and be detail-oriented.
Ability to remain focused on multiple priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
Five years of experience working or engaged in the field of advancement in higher education or other philanthropic organizations; experience should include working with volunteers and managing volunteer programs.
