Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Development Assistant for Douglass Residential College. This position reports to the Douglass Residential College Associate Dean of Advancement, who oversees all fundraising and alumnae relations for the college. The Development Assistant provides administrative and logistical support to Advancement staff, manages gift and other records for the advancement office, and manages logistics for the College's stewardship and cultivation activities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Supports fundraising programs and activities, including, but not limited to, preparing donor materials, assisting with basic research, and preparing donor gift agreements.
Responsible for Douglass stewardship programs and activities, including, but not limited to, recipient notifications, acknowledgement letters, student thank you notes, impact reports, and stewardship events.
Acts as a liaison between Douglass and the Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) and University accounting departments.
Manages the opening of temporary and new accounts, new account questionnaires, and account transfers, and organizes and processes expense reports.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean, this position assists with alumnae engagement programs and activities, draft alumnae communications, and field questions from or reach out to alumnae on behalf of the College.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or reporting principles and practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be comfortable with phone and in-person outreach activities, have the ability to work effectively with donors, alumnae, volunteers, and fellow staff, and be able to demonstrate successful experience with office administration.
Organized, detail oriented, personable, self-directed with strong planning skills, and have the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Two (2) years relevant experience in an administrative function.
Experience in development, higher education, special events, volunteer management, etc.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MailChimp, and Excel, along with either basic knowledge of or willing to learn MailChimp and CVENT.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn customized software including RADAR, SIGNALS, Cornerstone, etc., and database management.
