Department Name: 7H656:PEDIATRICS - GASTROENTEROLOGY
The department's laboratory is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a position of Research Scientist I in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Their aim is to rapidly grow his lab that is focused on mechanistic understanding of how sugar metabolism (fructose and glucose) impacts development of obesity, diabetes and fatty liver disease.
The successful candidate will have relentless work attitude, intellectual curiosity and self-directed drive to seek the scientific truth. She or he will participate in day to day research activities in the lab, assist in training of post-doctoral students and other lab personal, and practice exemplary leadership skills. Furthermore, the research scientist will assist in preparation of scientific manuscripts, grant applications, and dissemination of lab findings at local and national meetings. There is a priority to facilitate the career and scientific development of the candidate chosen for this position.
Proficient with writing and completion of IACUC compliant small animal care; Advanced lab skills; scientific writing and editing.

Degree in science related field plus one or more years related experience preferred.
