RESEARCH SCIENTIST , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research , to join the Biopolymers & Proteomics Core . The mission of this facility is to provide technical expertise and training to members of the Koch Institute community to enable them to achieve advanced proteomics analysis in basic and translational oncology research. Will be responsible for providing consultative services to scientists and engineers in the design and execution of sophisticated proteomics projects; providing technical expertise for proteomics projects; the hands-on handling of sample preparation and LC-MS runs, including global analysis of post-translational phosphorylation and other modifications; training investigators to conduct proteomics research; participating in data analysis and interpretation; maintaining and overseeing all instrumentation dedicated for these mass spectrometry projects, including hands-on troubleshooting; participating in proposal writing related to the support of this effort; and overseeing and tracking usage.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field; at least three years of experience; experience with high-end mass spectrometry, including instrument maintenance; documented ability to conduct independent research; hands-on experience with quantitative mass spectrometry techniques and basic instrument maintenance for the Thermo Q Exactive series; experience with Proteome Discoverer and Mascot or other mass spectrometry data analysis software; a strong background in biology, preferably with an emphasis on cancer research; self-motivation; and excellent organizational, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skill, as the position will involve the guidance of scientists.
