We are seeking a candidate to join the Mouse Genetics Core Facility (MGCF) as a Research Assistant. MGCF is a research support facility which provides a range of technical assistance to investigators in MSK to generate and maximize the utility of genetically engineered mouse (GEM) models for cancer research. Our mission also includes development and implementation of relevant new technologies. Our operation requires integration of a range of technologies, spanning from molecular biology (recombinant DNA and RNA technologies), cell biology (embryonic stem (ES) cells), mouse embryo manipulation (microscopic injection) to reproductive biology (assisted reproduction and cryopreservation). Candidates with experience and ability to work on multiple aspects of these specialty areas are encouraged to apply.
assist in performing research activities in collaboration with internal/external personnel to complete science-based projects.
independently plan and execute a series of procedures for GEM production.

be in close coordination with colleagues in multiple aspects of project pipelines ranging from molecular assembly of DNA/RNA reagents, cell culture, mouse embryo manipulation, reproductive biology, and mouse colony management.
respond to and produce reports comprising of the requested quantitative and qualitative data for the studies as requested by the laboratory head and members of the research team.
be cooperative on concerted staff scheduling to ensure timeliness of work; may require contribution to rosters to perform essential preparatory and monitoring procedures off regular working hours.
a Bachelors degree in sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, etc.) with 5-7 years of work experience in a biological laboratory setting or a Masters degree in sciences with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
aspirations in learning and mastering new experimental skills in relevant specialty areas such as ES cell technology, mouse embryo manipulation and reproductive biology.
