Summary The Study Abroad Advisor will take a lead role in promoting study abroad to ISU students by creating and communicating information on the transfer of credits from study abroad experiences to their respective degree programs.Â Â The potential delay in graduation, or perception thereof, is a common barrier for students to study abroad, and the ultimate goal for this position is to take measures to help alleviate this barrier.Â In addition, this position will have responsibility for managing some study abroad programs including meeting with and advising students and maintaining communication with the study abroad provider.Â Â Overall promotion of study abroad at various events across campus to prospective and current students is another important aspect of this position.Â
Example of Duties
â¢ Works proactively to develop information to assist students and academic advisors with developing a study abroad plan that aligns with their graduation plan.
â¢ Manages and coordinates a portfolio of study abroad programs and services. â¢ Recruits and advises students in study abroad programs.
Level Guidelines â¢ Individual contributor position with developing professional and/or technical skills working under immediate to general supervision â¢ Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode â¢ Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope â¢ Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained â¢ Responds to inquiries and issues, escalating to manager or higher level workers as appropriate â¢ May lead projects of limited scope and complexity â¢ May provide guidance to students
This position will be filled at either a Study Abroad Advisor I or II Level. In addition to the duties above, the Study Abroad Advisor II performs all the duties above with more autonomy and complexity.
