The Department of Veterinary Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for a Part-time Research Technician II position. This position will be responsible for supporting research activities in the Parasitology lab of Dr. Matthew Brewer, including handling biological samples (stool, blood, urine, tissue) arriving for parasite analysis, preparing solutions and buffers for testing, and entering data outcomes into software.Â Additional responsibilities will include maintaining lab equipment and microscopes, entering orders, and providing back-up support to other laboratories in the department. This position will be 20 hours/week. There is the potential that this position could turn into full-time hours.
Summary Responsible for coordinating the testing of samples. Monitors and maintains lab equipment. Troubleshoots issues in the lab.
Example of Duties â¢ Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency. â¢ Collects, analyzes, and processes laboratory samples or research data. â¢ Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions. â¢ Determines testing methods for non-standardized test. â¢ Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates lab equipment. â¢ Assists scientists with research and record findings in the field or lab. â¢ Maintains sample tracking.
