Gender, Women’s, + Sexuality Studies is an interdisciplinary academic department that offers an undergraduate major, two undergraduate minors and both an undergraduate and graduate certificate. It is also a participating member of the Language, Literacy and Culture PhD Program.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks a Program Management Specialist to provide administrative support to the Gender, Women’s, + Sexuality Studies Department, its diverse faculty, students and courses.
Specific duties include:
Answering phones and email
Preparing correspondence and materials for department meetings, annual reports and recruitment
Maintaining financial, curricular, student, personnel records and Department web resources
Hiring and payroll processes
Scheduling courses, updating course catalogs, assisting the Chair and other faculty with course scheduling, recruitment, advising, enrollment activities, lectures, meetings and special events
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree and two years experience in administrative staff work.
Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Bachelor's Degree will preferably be in women’s studies or a related social justice field.
Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel, PeopleSoft and Adobe applications is strongly preferred. The candidate should also have excellent organizational, writing, customer service, interpersonal and cultural competency skills, including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Experience managing financial records is preferred.
