Bachelor's degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Education or a related field. Master's preferred. Four years of experience working in a progressively responsible professional position in a writing or learning center or a related field. Two years of experience teaching writing at the college level is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Oversees the operations and programming for the Academic Success Center, with a special focus on reading and writing tutoring, tutoring in the humanities or social sciences, and support for students in Integrated Reading and Writing (INRW).
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Oversees the operations and programming for the Academic Success Center (ASC). Oversees tutoring staff and provides feedback, observations, and general career support. Designs and implements professional development programming for the Academic Success Center staff and the broader college community to include workshops, staff development, and orientations. Develops new and supports extant center programming. Oversees several projects to include student workshops, student writing groups, staff development programs, and other existing and new programming. Develops a broad array of written materials in support of the Academic Success Center's work. Manages online support and resources, including synchronous and asynchronous tutoring and resources for students and faculty. Designs and implements assessments to improve the Center's services and programs. Represents the ASC at meetings, events, conferences, and on committees. Oversees the administrative responsibilities to include scheduling and purchasing. Maintains employee records regarding College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification. Performs other related duties as assigned.
