Title: Learn and Earn Biotech Navigator (Grant-funded)
Unit: MCCC Part-Time Professional Staff
Reports To: Director of the Biotech Learn and Earn Experience
General Statement of Duties: The Biotech Navigator will work closely with the Director of the Biotech Learn and Earn Experience and the Chair of the Biotech Program to support student recruitment, advising, and other day to day responsibilities. The navigator will also collaborate with the biotech program faculty and MCC administration.
Essential Job Functions:
Recruit for the biotech program and the Learn and Earn (L&E) experience across campus, at local high schools and community partners
Coordinate and present L&E information sessions
Design and disseminate recruitment materials for the L&E experience
Meet with interested students and advise them on L&E benefits and eligibility
Actively follow-up with interested students
Assist Director with planning students' schedules
Advise students on their L&E class schedules
Serve as liaison to career services and assist with career development advising for students as needed
Promote social supports and connections for L&E students
Serve as general resource for students
Direct questions from students to Director as needed
Understanding of and at least 6 months experience with the biotech industry
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Strong organizational and detail oriented abilities
Knowledge of recruitment and advising at community colleges
Ability to take initiative and solve problems as needed
Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and identities such as socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, religion, veterans, culture, race and ethnicity, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
This is a grant funded, part-time MCCC unit professional staff, 15 hours per week position. This position is contingent on sufficient grant funding.
Location: Lowell and Bedford campus
Hours: Average 15 hours a week. Schedule of hours is flexible but will be determined by recruitment and program needs.
Approximate employment period: 52 weeks per year, MCCC Unit Position. Appointment is subject to the availability of sufficient funds in the grant budget. 12 month position.
