This position reports directly to the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and is responsible for supporting this position in providing opportunities for student-athlete's personal and professional growth and leadership while maximizing the learning experience. Goals of this position include helping to facilitate an inclusive and diverse community for student-athletes to thrive within.
Vanderbilt University's Athletics Department prepares student-athletes to become leaders and champions in life by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference's only private school. The university fields 16 varsity teams (6 men's teams and 10 women's teams), 14 of which compete in the Southeastern Conference.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development, while complying with NCAA and SEC rules and regulations, provide administrative support for programs and student-athlete services including but not limited to: leadership, wellness, community service, and career development.
Community Outreac: Promote the positive impact of Vanderbilt Athletics in the community through service initiatives. Campus liaison with Protection of Minors and ensuring compliance. Coordinate and track service opportunities for student-athletes and staff including annual events like Dancing Dores, Trick or Treat, Holiday Party and Field Day. Coordinate Kids Zone tickets annually. Coordinate any major disaster relief effort drives. Coordinate team specific service opportunities. Assist student-athletes with individual initiatives. Provide measurable outcomes and information to coaches and admin regarding service initiatives.
Leadership Development: Develop and implement Be An Anchor Leadership programming. Campus liaison with Office of Student Leadership Development. In conjunction with the Student-Athlete Development staff, manage and coordinate SAAC meetings and initiatives. Provide measurable outcomes and information to coaches and admin regarding leadership initiatives. Collaborate on NIL/Personal Development programming.
Marketing and Communications: Manage all social media accounts with an annual plan to increase followers; manage emails and video board weekly for student-athlete events/I am more than highlights, service events etc. Manage all Teamworks calendars and communication. Create semester programming calendar.
Other Duties as Assigned: Support Student-Athlete Development in all programming as related to Welcome Back celebration, Golden 'Dores Banquet, Senior Send Off and Student-Athlete Graduation Reception, Diversity Bus Tour, advise affinity groups, as well as other programming annually.
A Bachelor's degree is necessary.
