Major Duties: General Summary:- The Assistant Athletic Director of Equipment and Apparel Services supports the Department of Athletics in all aspects of equipment management and supervises the Assistant Director of Equipment Management and temporary and student workers assigned to the WMU Athletics equipment rooms. This position has significant interactions with Athletic Department staff members, coaches and student athletes.Major Duties:- Manage the services and day-to-day operations of the Department of Athletics' equipment rooms in Read Fieldhouse, Lawson Arena and the Seeyle Center, oversee the centralized responsibility for all athletic equipment purchases and inventory for all WMU Athletic teams.- Evaluate and monitor effectiveness of services, policies, and procedures; identify problems and institute or recommend changes. Update and improve policies and procedures to accommodate for future growth of operations. - Manage apparel embellishment for cost effectiveness, consistency and protection of brand. Coordinate laundry room operations. - Oversee the procurement of all athletic equipment and uniforms following evaluation of current equipment with the equipment managers for football and Olympic Sports; utilize cost effective strategies. - Oversee the maintenance of a continuous inventory of all athletic equipment and conduct a seasonal equipment inventory for each assigned sport using appropriate, up-to-date inventory computer programs. - Adhere to university, state, conference and NCAA policies and procedures, including Title IX, regarding the issuance of equipment and services for all intercollegiate sports. Remain current with evolving safety standards that are necessary to reduce liability. - Work with campus licensing and retail/bookstore areas to generate revenue, brand identity protection and promotion of Bronco Athletic Marks.- Supervise and train student and temp equipment room staff. Determine work assignments and work schedules to accommodate the extended hours and complex scheduling of collegiate practices and sporting events.- Ensure the availability of equipment support for visiting teams and officials. Coordinate and order athletic awards when necessary or warranted. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.- Three years' relevant experience. - Experience working in an intercollegiate athletics equipment operation. - Inventory experience. - Budget management experience. - Relevant industry certification. - Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
