The University of Akron (UA) is seeking to fill the position of Business Analyst – IT which serves as a liaison between the campus community, business units and the IT organization to provide business process solutions to meet departmental and institutional needs.
Possessing a moderate level of expertise and knowledge of the business units and the enterprise or third-party systems used by the units; analyzing business unit operations and functions to identify gaps and deficiencies with unit or institutional processes and evaluate, recommend, implement, and support solutions used to automate or improve processes and functions
Assisting in the redesign, analysis, development, implementation and support of business processes and systems for business units supported by the analyst
Leading or participating in business process re-engineering teams for complex business process redesign
Acting as a liaison between business units supported and information technology staff in upgrades and new systems and technology that is put in place of support of the business units
Translating high-level business requirements into detailed specifications for technology staff
Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts with the project teams; analyzing issues within supported business processes and systems providing recommendations on these
Preparing test plans and design and maintaining test scripts for the supported processes and systems; conducting tests in support of upgrades and enhancements applied to supported systems
Providing ad hoc reports and queries for business processes and systems that are supported
Maintaining user and training documentation for supported business processes and systems
Providing training for primary users of systems and supported processes
Maintaining system configurations for supported business processes
Relevant Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of two (2) years of experience of business or systems analysis and process improvement
Experience in defining eliciting business requirements and testing
Basic knowledge in defining and documenting business processes
Understanding of current general information technology concepts, theories, trends, and systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively conduct presentations
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees
Ability to adapt to and manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines
Experience in process improvement and change management processes
Significant experience with financial processes and procedures especially those involving Grant Management
Experience with ERP systems especially the Financials Management module
Experience evaluating, managing, and testing updates provided for the ERP system
Experience with basic SQL
Certification in business analysis especially CBAP and/or certification as a Project Manager (PMP)
Prior work experience in higher education
