The Sr. Associate Director for Student Administration is a senior leader in the management of the HLS Dean of Students (DOS) Office. Reporting directly to the Dean of Students, the Sr. Associate Director executes on key procedural operations and business functions. This role also works across the student services team to identify opportunities for cross-office service improvements via more streamlined business processes, more effective communications tools, and new technology implementation. In addition, the Sr. Associate Director works directly with students in an advising capacity.
The Dean of Students Office works with faculty and other Harvard Law School (HLS) administrative offices to orient 1,800 students to law school life, and to provide resources and support on a variety of matters that may arise in both students' academic and personal lives.
As Sr. Associate Director for Student Administration, you will:
Serve as the Secretary of the Administrative Board (a board comprised of faculty, staff, and students who are charged with handling exceptions to academic and administrative rules and student discipline). The Secretary will communicate with both students and the Ad Board faculty chair, perform investigatory functions, and maintain appropriate records.
Advise students on all matters relating to Bar application logistics and questions or concerns about the Bar's character and fitness process. Work closely with the Registrar's Office and the Admissions Office on these matters as needed. Maintain relationships with bar preparation company representatives, state bar administrators, and stay abreast of the latest changes in MPRE, UBE, and state bar requirements.
Lead DOS operational improvement team. Bring Agile mindset to provision of student services, with an eye towards continuous improvement via student feedback and data analysis. As this team evolves, branch out into business process and technology projects that cross student services teams (admissions, financial aid, community engagement, and careers). Responsible for project delivery being on time and on budget.
Manage staff, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment.
Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and training for staff
Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations.
Participate in the general programmatic efforts of the Dean of Students Office including Orientation, Commencement, wellbeing programming, etc.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
