The Computer Services Consultant I provides classroom computer support to the Viterbi School.Â Responsibilities include maintaining the instructional computing labs, A/V equipment support, user support for the faculty, staff and students that use the space.Â The incumbent also assists with the repair, maintenance, deployment and support of the classroom computers, printers and associated peripherals.
This position is part of the shift work team that provides service across, all 24 hours of the clock each day of the week (e.g., 24/7) in Engineering Computing Center (ECC).Â The incumbent will have work schedules that include both long-term night shifts, weekend shifts and holidays on a rotational basis.
Provide first level computer support for faculty, staff, and students; escalates requests/issues as appropriate to the management.
Set up, administers and maintains classroom computers as directed.
Coordinate the maintenance of all A/V equipment, and peripherals.
Support set up and tear down of A/V equipment for meetings and/or events.
Assists in maintaining records and inventory of IT resources.
Stay informed of new developments and technologies in IT and instructional technologies.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Develops system documentation and user support procedures.
Bachelorâs degree in ITârelated studies preferred but not required. Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education.
Experience supporting Mac OSX and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Entry level understanding of computer networks, systems administration practices, and different hardware platforms.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to take ownership of tasks from start to finish keeping all stakeholders updated on progress.
Twoâyear experience in educational computing lab environment.
Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Analytical and excellent at troubleshooting software applications, hardware, and peripherals at the desktop level.
Demonstrated ability to work well both in collaborative, crossâfunctional teams, and independently with excellent personal initiative.
Experience in a managed desktop environment and computing lab computer administration.
Experience setting up classroom computers using various disk imaging software.
Strong ability to document solutions, procedures, and processes.
Ability to work within the pre-defined policies and procedures of the Department.
