The USC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is a fast-growing, dynamic, diverse, and supportive environment with opportunities for growth. Located at the USC Health Sciences Campus, the department is seeking to add a Budget/Business Technician to support the department with the administration of the day to day financial and administrative operations. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Monitoring and maintaining department accounts.
Preparing and processing travel advances and reimbursements for faculty and staff.
Reconciling internal records and inputting financial data.
Monitoring payroll activity. Monitoring expenditures, working with vendors, and purchasing equipment or software.
Assists with budget preparation for grant proposals. Gathers pertinent information and assists in developing budget projections.
Assists in the preparation of financial or operational reports (dashboards).
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university, school, and department reserve the right to add or change duties at any time.
Preferred Education: Bachelorâs degree, or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
Preferred experience: 2 years
Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), a strong financial and accounting acumen, ability to follow through with assigned tasks within established time-frames and with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment, and exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be skilled in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), other internet applications (search engines, other online portals), and similar software.
Applicant must ensure confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information, including but not limited to staff or faculty files.
Project management skills, research financial management skills, financial experience, and healthcare or educational administrative experience all a plus.
