Primarily accountable for assisting customers in an efficient, friendly and professional manner throughout their shopping experience. This specifically includes, but is not limited to: enthusiastically welcoming customers and visitors to the store, confidently answering questions about merchandise and helping them select appropriate gifts.
Accountable for straightening merchandise and cleaning of fixtures, restocking inventory, reworking displays and answering phones.
In addition, this position will be accountable for assisting with filling in for others during absences and peak times, as well as assisting with a variety of special projects as assigned by the supervisor. Projects may include, but are not limited to: assisting with all aspects of the buying process, including comprehensive use of the bookstore inventory control software, register coverage, web order processing, visual merchandising, decorating and assisting with textbooks.
- Ability to interact and connect with customers to create a positive shopping experience. - Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. - Ability to research and understand merchandise and use that information in an informative and persuasive manner with customers. - Ability to read social queues to adjust communication techniques with customers to enhance their experience. - Ability to work in a fast paced environment and change tasks quickly. - Requires attention to detail and accuracy for inventory and sales purposes. - Requires excellent skills with technology, such as register, credit card, email, spreadsheets and inventory systems. - Ability to count change.
Experience working in a retail operation.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
Ability to climb ladders. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to push, pull product and fixtures. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to work in an environment that includes several scented products and work with cleaning products.
