The Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice of Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Criminal Justice at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, NJ. The Metropolitan Campus currently offers the B.A. in Criminal Justice, B.A./M.A. in Criminal Justice, and M.A. in Criminal Justice programs. In addition, the department offers minors in Social Justice, Legal Studies, and Computer Forensics. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; have an active research agenda resulting in peer-reviewed publications; provide academic advising; participate actively in student retention efforts, learning outcomes assessment, and curriculum development; serve on committees at the department, college, and university levels. Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to supervising student clubs/organizations; coordinating and promoting department initiatives and events. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to be present on campus at least four days per week, and to attend open houses and outreach programs, which are conducted a few weekends throughout the year. 1.PhD in Criminal Justice or closely related field. 2.Strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service, and contributions to student welfare. 3.Prior teaching experience and demonstrated ability to foster student learning. 4.Professional experience in criminal justice research or practice. 5.Superior oral and written communications skills and ability to work collaboratively. 6.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
