A part-time instructor is needed to teach SWK 401 Sec M002 – Strategies of Social Work Intervention I in Fall 2021 semester (8/30/21-12/17/21). Course description: Preparation for beginning social work interventions. Theories of practice and rehearsal of problem solving and communication skills with individuals, families, and groups in client, target, and action systems. Concurrent field placement. Social work majors only. Class meets (in person): TTh 3:30 p.m. – 4:50 p.m. Additional Course Description: The approach described in this course is empirically based. It draws upon the specific research used in the development of the interactional model as well as other related research described in the literature. In addition to exploring research findings from formal studies, the student will also have the opportunity to integrate a practitioner/researcher stance in relation to his/her own fieldwork with clients. Assignments are designed to allow the student to implement analyses of his/her practice and to apply the theoretical model and generalist practice skills to deepen his/her understanding of the complex issues he/she and his/her clients must face in their work together.
