The Master of Social Work program at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. Emphasis is on engagement with students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective social work practitioners and dynamic leaders both locally and globally.
MSW Program options include full-time, part-time, and advanced standing. Teaching may include generalist and/or specialization level courses. Specialized practice options include Community Leadership and Program Administration which prepares students for macro practice in local, national, and international contexts. The Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families specialization prepares students for a range of clinically-oriented practice settings.
We are currently seeking someone with a strong teaching experience who can teach across the curriculum, in both micro and macro social work practice. As our student body is reflective of the diversity of southern California, the Department seeks to recruit faculty from diverse backgrounds, committed to excellence, a collaborative environment, and social justice. Experience in higher education is preferred.
Specialization: Social Work Practice and Theory
Teach four courses per semester.
Assist in student advising, program assessment and student admissions.
Attend regularly schedule department and program meetings.
Participation in the life of the department as well as the university is required.
Contribute to development and dissemination of knowledge and expertise.
Level: Instructor/Assistant Professor
PhD or other Doctorate preferred, Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited social work program with minimum two years practice experience required. Basic computer skills required.
University teaching experience, interprofessional collaboration, and community-based skills strongly preferred, LCSW preferred. Preferred candidates able to teach across the curriculum, with specialization in area of micro social work practice. Candidates must be able to communicate their Christian faith and how they ethically integrate faith in social work scholarship and practice.
Workload: Full-time, one-year, non-renewable.
