The Senior Accounting Clerk is primarily responsible for processing student refunds and keying them into the Banner system. This position is also responsible for balancing the weekly refunds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes weekly refunds, which requires account verification for each student.
Balances the weekly refunds.
Processes returned checks, voided checks, and rejected ACH refunds.
Reconciles refund clearing account.
Resolves student and parent questions via phone, email, and walk in students>
Processes daily incoming mail.
Participates in retention efforts by reaching out to students with Registration holds.
Assists in credit balance write offs.
Performs related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three years of office experience in clerical and/or bookkeeping work.
Experience in customer service.
Associate’s degree including studies of clerical and/or bookkeeping.
Alternately, the successful candidate will possess any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures.
Proficient typing and adding machine skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to follow directions and prescribed routines.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Willingness to further education with specific courses.
Knowledge of SAL Loan System or ability to learn.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to research, resolve and explain student account issues.
