The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 200 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department’s highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department’s robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. Other areas of excellence include Addictions, Autism, High Risk Youth, Neurosciences, and Trauma, and the Department is developing innovative new programs in Technology and Mental Health, Global Mental Health, Maternal and Child Mental Health, and Targeted Intervention Development.
The University of Washington CoLab for Community & Behavioral Health Policy is currently seeking a full time Research Study Assistant to provide data and general support for several research studies. The CoLab engages community expertise and research evidence to spark creative and sustainable change in behavioral health and juvenile justice policy and systems, particularly those involving youth and families. The CoLab includes the Evidence Based Practice Institute (EBPI), a statewide resource to promote high quality mental health services for children and youth in Washington State. •Manage excel tracking sheets and databases. •Manage, clean, and prepare datasets for analysis. •Conduct basic data analysis tasks. •Maintain detailed and accurate study records. •Maintain confidentiality of subject information. •Manage multiple databases of study stakeholders, interview schedules, and progress on data collection. •Assist with conducting literature reviews. •Assist with qualitative coding of participant interviews. •Assist in coordinating materials and resources for study meetings. •Assist with meeting scheduling among multiple participants. •Format PowerPoint presentations and reports. •Assist with manuscript preparation. •Recruit study participants. •Conduct interviews with people from diverse backgrounds, including youth, family members, community members, and professional stakeholders. •Assist with other research and administrative tasks, as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: •Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: •Strong analytic background with experience working with Excel and statistical software. •Ability to interact professionally and maintain relationships with research study stakeholders such as state administrators, local providers, and judges and other court personnel. •Ability to competently work with individuals and families from diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds.
DESIRED: •Experience with SPSS, Qualtrics, RedCap, EndNote. •Experience collecting, managing and/or conducting basic analyses for research studies. •Experience conducting literature reviews. •Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. •Experience with qualitative coding.
Conditions of employment •Willingness to occasionally work in evenings/weekends if needed.
Equivalent education/experience can substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
