Under the management of the Director, Platform Engineering and Operations, this role will be responsible for implementing and managing technical infrastructure supporting the HBS Online learning platforms, application development environments, and other ancillary infrastructure services and environments which run primarily within Amazon Web Services (AWS). They will collaborate with systems administrators and developers to manage and determine the future direction of the HBS Online infrastructure that is critical to our organizational success. They also serve as a resource to developers and technical staff in their use of these technologies and will coordinate with all teams to design appropriate applications and systems monitoring strategies.
Design, implement, and manage the infrastructure of a global, large-scale, consumer-facing online learning product.
Continuously enhance and modernize all aspects of the infrastructure to take advantage of new technologies and cloud-native capabilities.
Strengthen application and infrastructure security through the application of industry standards and best practices.
Tune and optimize the performance of a variety of systems, focusing on high availability and scalability.
Work both as an independent/task-driven contributor as well as an integral member of a collaborative team to support day-to-day operations of applications and systems.
Participate in a regular on-call support rotation and, if necessary, work off-hours.
Execute efficient troubleshooting methodology and utilize analytical thinking to address issues (simple and complex) and communicate findings, recommendations, and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies, and Code of Conduct.

During the current period of COVID-19 related restrictions, this position may start as a remote position with the transition to onsite at HBS campus in Boston, MA when the office reopens.

5+ years of relevant experience is required
Real-world experience designing, implementing, and deploying secure cloud-native services and environments.
Experience with using infrastructure-as-code to automate and manage systems and environments.
Understanding of system administration in Linux-based systems.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with software development practices a plus.
