The Manager of Faculty Development will support programs and events established by the Associate Dean of Faculty Development in the School of Nursing to support faculty success in teaching and learning, scholarship and research, and faculty productivity. These initiatives seek to enhance and facilitate the careers of faculty through mentorship programs, performance evaluations, seminars, workshops, and other events.
Specific responsibilities of the Manager of Faculty Development will include:
Assisting in the development, coordination and execution of faculty programming under the oversight of the Associate Dean for Faculty Development;
Researching best practices and peer data related to mentoring and work with the Associate Dean to implement and coordinate all logistics, updates and communications for a faculty mentorship program at Columbia Nursing;
Serving as the Schoolâ€™s administrative lead for Interfolio, the faculty performance review system, to troubleshoot issues, provide updates as necessary, and train new faculty on the tool;
Assisting the Deanâ€™s Office in securing promotion and tenure letters from outside reviewers;
Working with senior faculty to prepare nominations for faculty awards and fellowships for both internal reviewing committees and external organizations;
Developing clear, organized communications and marketing materials to announce upcoming events, including e-blasts and related internet/intranet pages;
Serving as the point of contact for postdoctoral research scientists and fellows, including orientating them to the School, providing ongoing support, and navigating questions as necessary;
Determining methods to ensure that provided programs and events are successfully meeting the outlined goals and objectives requested by the leadership team;
Organizing and coordinating events and meetings including virtual Zoom meetings, venues, food, speaker needs, and all other related details;
Ensuring all programming, trainings and events are within budget and tracked appropriately; and
Performing other projects and responsibilities as needed and assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four (4) years of related experience.
The Manager must be detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent follow-up skills. S/He will have the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and coordinate multiple projects with competing priorities, all while remaining calm under pressure. The incumbent must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, take a proactive approach to projects, and anticipate needs, working extended hours as necessary.
The successful candidate will also have exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. S/He will be a proficient writer with the ability to draft coherent, easy to understand communications to our faculty population. The Manager will also have experience in developing PowerPoint presentations and marketing materials to advertise events. The individual in this role will also have experience in planning events, as well as evaluating programs to ensure event objectives are met.
Experience working within an academic institution is preferred. Experience in supporting training and development initiatives is also a plus.
