Under the guidance of the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid, the Director of Undergraduate Admissions will assume a senior leadership position in the office and has responsibility for managing projects which support the overall mission of enrolling candidates to Columbia and lead in the development of the officeâ€™s other strategic initiatives and planning.
The Director of Undergraduate Admissions will oversee the day to day functions and carry out all set goals of Undergraduate Admissions and approve action plans for recruitment, marketing, targeted outreach initiatives, reading and selection and staff development. The Director will be responsible for direct management of members of the admissions staff and will assume fiscal responsibility for Undergraduate Admissions.

Serve on the executive team for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid and contribute to department-wide decisions on strategy, hiring and staff management.
Act as a representative for the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid on College and University-wide committees concerning educational planning, enrollment management, external affairs, and student services.
The Director will assist the Dean in enrollment and planning and oversee reading, selection and committee for an applicant pool of over 60,000 students applying for first-year, transfer, Combined Plan and Visiting Student Admission.
Coordinate the development and execution of a comprehensive recruitment campaign to attract the worldâ€™s most talented students to Columbia College and Columbia Engineering, including overseeing a communications plan that includes 2 major university websites, a dozen major print publications and hundreds of pieces of electronic communication annually.
Daily supervision of 5 direct reports and a staff of over 30 officer and support staff members. Create effective management structures for staff with program and performance reviews. Supervise professional development opportunities and training programs.
Daily supervision of an operational budget of over $3 million dispersed to meet institutional goals as set by the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and the Deans of Columbia College and Columbia Engineering.
Oversee the development of and execution of a comprehensive global travel strategy to meet the goals articulated by the Deans of Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid, Columbia College and Columbia Engineering. Daily supervision of office-wide travel which includes 22 officers traveling to 6 continents and holding dozens of off-campus events annually.
Supervise the Columbia Visitors Center, which welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and oversee all visit-related staff and activities for both CC and SEAS, and other Columbia schools and programs.
The officer will have sign-off authority on admission decisions including serving as a Chair for Admission Committees.
Assume other responsibilities as designated by the Dean.
As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Council of Ivy Group Presidents (Ivy League), it is imperative that members of the Columbia University community, in all matters related to the intercollegiate athletics program, exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, University, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
Minimum of 7-9 years related experience required.
Previous admissions experience at a selective institution is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Prior management experience required.
