The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Clinical Coordinator II-RN to join our team in a full time position within the Division of Endocrinology. Columbia University Medical Centerâ€™s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing clinical support to physicians, as well as providing support in assisting with the Endocrinology Testing Service, which is currently performed on a limited 2-day basis. The Division also has plans to send the nurse to be a PEN trained nurse so that he/she will be qualified to assist in patient education, in the hopes of continuing to improve patient care. Additionally, the nurse would assume a vital component of our Program for Overweight Education and Reduction (POWER) Program. The POWER program offers obesity intervention to pediatric patients on a once monthly basis.
Assist in review of lab results
Promptly return calls to patients regarding normal results after discussion with primary (primary will handle abnormal results)
Triage and assist in calls Re NY State Thyroid and Newborn Screening program
Assist with clinical trials
Participate in Pediatric Endocrine Nursing Society and provide nursing education for inpatient endocrine issues such as stress dose steroid coverage.
Facilitate prior authorizations for growth hormone therapy and other as needed
All other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelorâ€™s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications â€¢ Baccalaureate in Nursing Preferred
â€¢ Experience with Endocrinology patients is preferred â€¢ Bilingual in Spanish Preferred
Current NYS License, maintain and renew when necessary
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
