Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Medicine – Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School. Under direction of the Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant will assist with translational, clinical, and epidemiologic studies of COVID-19 and/or other infectious diseases.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assist with study operations including study coordination, participant tracking, supply procurement, logistics of sample collection and transport.
Assist with data entry and quality control of research data.
As appropriate, assists with development of study proposals, IRB protocols, and clinical SOPs.
As appropriate, assist with screening and consenting research participants.
As appropriate, works safely in a BSL2 lab environment, compliant with biosafety protocols, to assist with microbiological or molecular assays including RNA extraction and RT-PCR, cell cultures, biospecimen processing and storage.
Generate, compile, and present data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program.
Availability of at least 10-15 hours/week (minus black-out dates for exams and educational commitments).
Previous research experience including benchwork, clinical research, and data/statistical analysis.
Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when necessary to meet deadlines.
Must be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Some research activities/roles may be conducted remotely.
