Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Medicine-Gastroenterology Department within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Research Assistant is to assist the Principal Investigators, Physicians, Division Administrator and Study Coordinators in all aspects of the GI & Hepatology Research Programs and Clinical Trials. The Research Assistant will assist with evaluation and management of patients with chronic liver diseases. The Research Assistant will assist the Clinical Research Team and Supervisor with implementing clinical practice guidelines and best practices to provide optimal therapy for patients enrolled in Clinical Trials. This position will also be responsible for recruitment and enrollment of any/all clinical trials assigned as per the CRC Supervisor.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists with the implementation of all clinical trials (coordinates site visits, assists with regulatory and startup paper work, prepare Clinical Trial Binders, assists with scheduling subjects, participate in Clinical Trial meetings once per week, make copies).
Obtains, interprets and evaluates patient's data to assist the physician& coordinators in determining management and treatment of patients.
Assists in the identification and recruitment process in order to determine if patients are eligible for enrollment into research protocols and assists in obtaining all of the required consents.
Is responsible for the maintenance of weekly screening logs for all research related clinical activities.
Performs patient services as delegated by the Private Investigator and Sub Investigator which can or will include obtaining vital signs and performance of phlebotomy.
Assists in the performance and scoring of quality of life assessments of functional capacity and other outcome measures.
Assists in collecting and ensuring quality control of study data and response to study inquiries.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university plus one (1) year of professional experience.
Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Clinical Research Certification.
Salary: Maximum amount authorized $15 an hour
