Detailed Job Description The Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (ECTET) department of RIT's College of Engineering Technology (CET) is currently seeking applications for a Senior Staff Assistant.
This position provides administrative and clerical support to the department leadership in the day-to-day operation of the department. This includes developing and maintaining databases, academic report generation, and back-up support to grant processing, arranging travel, and processing expense reports.
In collaboration with CET Marketing Communications Manager and Department Chair this position implements social media activities, web updates and supports/prepares other materials such as flyers, notices and similar for the department.
This position also supports student academic services such as preparation of academic forms for processing, provides student services support for 2 undergraduate and 1 graduate program; is liaison for coordination and implementation of department participation in college and university activities such as College and Careers, open houses, and similar event management.
This position coordinates and facilitates curriculum processing; proactively collects and maintains departmental Intended Learning Outcome (ILO) course success data and other student success measures for use in annual RIT Student Learning Outcome reporting; implements and maintains the database for assessing student outcomes, and coordinates annual assessment and continuous improvement reports as required by the Institute and ABET accrediting agencies.

Located in the RIT College of Engineering Technology, the Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (ECTET) departments student focused faculty engage students in a blend of project-based and research-oriented educational activities in one master-of-science degree and two bachelor-of-science degree programs. ECTETs 400 full-time students benefit from the departments flexible and innovative instructional delivery that features world-class laboratories, cross-disciplinary education, collaborative activities, and a year of industrial experience through a required cooperative education program. The ECTET department features state-of-the-art laboratories in, photonics and fiber optics, wireless communications, next generation telecom network development, applied acoustics and audio, smart and autonomous applications, embedded systems, electronics, and power & energy.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalent experience
2 years of administrative support experience
Skill in supporting social media activities
Strong attention to detail, follow-through, problem solving
Strong interpersonal skills
Adaptable and flexible and can handle change.
Able to work in an active, multitasking and busy environment
Strong sense and demonstrated understanding of confidentiality
Intermediate - advanced Microsoft Office in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Proficient in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc)
Experience with basic HTML and Drupal web editing or similar
Basic experience with in-house communication/marketing materials such as flyers, notices or similar, graphic design and online graphical style
Event management skills
Experience with on-line financial systems and other higher education systems. Strong applicants will also have:
Experience with on-line applicant tracking system
Experience in higher education clerical/administrative support
Higher education student academic support and services experience
Demonstrated experience and understanding of policy and procedure implementation
