JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Senior Health and Safety Specialist, this position oversees and implements health, safety, and environmental programs of the institution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uses health and safety regulations to promote regulatory compliance that identifies and abates health and safety hazards.
Conducts facility inspection preparations and collects and reviews health and safety documentation, such as chemical inventories, job hazard analyses, training records and facility inspections.
Responds to hazardous material emergencies (e.g., chemical spills, indoor air quality issues, etc.).
Evaluates engineering controls, PPE selection, and the use and assessment of worker exposure to hazardous agents (e.g., noise, heat, chemicals).
Investigates incidents and concerns through root-cause analysis.
Ensures the resolution of identified issues by providing follow-up, as ensure the resolution of identified issues necessary.
Coordinates and maintains campus emergency management plans with the Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC) and municipal emergency responders.
Organizes and provides health and safety trainings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
