The Assistant Director for Learning Strategies and Instruction (LSI) supports all aspects of the LSI program including workshops, Personal Academic Consultations (PAC), 49er Connect, campus presentations, and outreach. He/she/they also provides support to other UCAE and campus initiatives that promote the academic success of students.
This is a new position and will be the primary contact for two LSI services: 49er Connect and campus presentations. 49er Connect is a peer academic coaching program for undergraduate students. Campus presentations on various academic skill development topics are given for classes, student organizations, and staff across campus upon request. The Assistant Director will:
-Oversee, facilitate, and continuously improve LSI programming including 49er Connect and campus presentations. Initiate and maintain data collection and tracking through technology.
-Support the University's 49er Rebound program by co-facilitating the 49er Rebound Instructors' Institute, and teaching one or more sections of UCOL 1300, 1305, or 1307 each fall and spring semester.
-Coordinate and support outreach initiatives to promote UCAE programs and services via University and UCAE planned events.
-Deliver LSI workshops as needed throughout the academic year.
-Recruit, hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate up to 15 Graduate and Undergraduate student employees.
-Monitor program budget.
-Contribute to general functions in the areas of data collection and analysis, program planning and assessment, and annual reporting.
-Assist Associate Director for LSI with all programming functions.
-Contribute to general UCAE functions as needed.
Minimum Experience / Education:
A master's degree from an accredited University is required for this position. Preference will be given to candidates with degrees in higher education, counseling, or related discipline.
One year of experience in teaching, training, and/or supervising college level students in a higher education setting.
Excellent public speaking skills required.
Interpersonal and administrative skills are essential.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Two-Three years of experience in higher education
Experience working with programs that foster student success strongly preferred
Experience in student success program development
Understanding of learning management and case management systems such as Canvas and SSC Navigate.
