The College of New Jersey invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor in Audio Recording & Production in the Departments of Interactive Multimedia and Music for Fall 2021. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching one introductory class in our campus Recording Studio, with access to a sixteen-seat Mac computer lab supported by our Information Technology department. The course introduces students to essential aspects of musical recording and editing, paying particular attention to equipment (microphones and mixers), signal flow, mic placement, digital audio editing techniques, mixing, automation, and effects. Students will focus on individual creative projects; student musicians are typically recruited to provide the live musical material. The course satisfies requirements for majors and minors in both departments, as well as in the new interdisciplinary Music Technology minor.
a completed terminal degree (masters or doctorate; ABD considered) in an audio recording technology-related discipline from an accredited institution, or significant professional experience
college/university-level teaching (or Teaching Assistant) experience in audio recording and production
3-5 years' experience in professional studio recording
professional-level expertise in Logic Pro X software
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent teaching skills in the context of an undergraduate curriculum where skills are introductory or in development.
Salary is commensurate to 3 Faculty Weighted Hours (current rate $5400 for the semester).
There will be no travel/moving cost reimbursement or working visa support attached to this position.
