The University of New of Haven invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach. This is a part-time position. The selected candidate will assist the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach in all aspects of the running a regionally and nationally competitive volleyball program. The position will interact with various constituency groups both internal and external to the University.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Using independent judgment and discretion, instruct, educate, train, and motivate student- athletes so they are properly prepared for competition.
Manage various issues with student athletes in an effective and professional manner.
Instruct and demonstrate proper game techniques, strategies and use of equipment.
Work closely with the Head Coach to evaluate the strengths and weakness of student-athletes
and then develop programs and techniques to help optimize their skill and performance.
Assist the Head Coach in planning and organizing practice sessions.
Identify, monitor, and recruit quality student-athletes that will be an asset to the University’s
Assist the Head Coach in the scouting of opposing teams. Develop scouting reports that are
precise, accurate and easily communicated.
Keep accurate records of players’ progress as related to performance in games and practices
and use this information to help develop and train the student-athlete.
Previous playing and/or coaching experience in the sport preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work with student-athletes and athletics personnel.
Strong leadership, verbal and written communication, and motivational skills.
Master’s degree preferred with successful collegiate playing experience.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and the ability to recruit and retain qualified student-
athletes for a competitive program.
Previously demonstrated compliance with all policies, rules and regulations from various authorities
including NCAA, Conference, state, and federal agencies is a plus.
