UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced endoscopy Registered Nurse to join our Eastside Specialty Center team, located in Bellevue, Washington.
SCHEDULE Per diem, day shift.
Triage of patients calling or coming in to the clinic with symptoms, questions or concerns
Care coordination including managing medications, communicating with other care providers and assisting patients with accessing services as needed
Assisting with clinic flow as needed, including rooming patients, collecting lab specimens and administering injections
Patient paperwork, including forms for insurance authorizations, disability accommodations, housing and other needs
Expert Practice – Provides expert nursing
Demonstrates knowledge and care of patients in the primary or specialty clinic that the RN is employed, including care and use of specialty specific equipment.
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition, including the five rights.
Prioritizes patient care based on acuity / urgency of patient needs, preference, choices and available resources.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to provide appropriate nursing care.
Nursing Process – Systematically assesses the need for and the delivery of nursing services that meet patient care requirements, whether delivered directly or by the other nursing staff.
Ability to perform a systematic assessment on area specific patient population.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.

Patient Care Coordination
Ability to formulate, coordinate and revise an individualized plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychological, cultural, ethnic and religious / spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
Telephone Communications – Provides care for individual patients or defined patient populations over the telephone using the nursing process.
Consistently follows policies and procedures for providing telephone medical advice.
Consistently documents care provided via telephone per UWMC policy.
Provides efficient and effective telephone triage for specific patient populations or problems.
Patient Safety - Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical / healthcare errors.
Complies with specific UWMC policies for safety and infection control.
Client Teaching – Integrates patient and family education into the delivery of care. Educational activities are culturally appropriate and are tailored to the patient’s and family’s ability to comprehend and participate.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Enabling Operations – Supervises and coordinates the care given by others to achieve efficient clinic operations.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, manager, co-workers, physicians and all members of the health care interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
Orients new permanent and temporary personnel to the department. Serves as a preceptor and mentor.
Assumes charge nurse duties for as needed.
Adheres to Attendance Standards.
Demonstrates knowledge of department specific billing policies and application of their procedures including Facility Only Coding, fee sheet completion and nurse visits.
Demonstrates ability to use computer applications required for successful completion of job requirements.

REQUIREMENTS ACLS/BLS within six months of hire. Two years of nursing endoscopy experience required.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS Washington State RN license required by start date.
DESIRED BSN preferred.
