UW Medical Center – Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a part time (80% FTE, 32 hours per week), day shift CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT to join our Meridian Women's Health Clinic in Ballard. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team that always puts their patients first. Our Meridian Women's Health Clinic is fast paced, and the Medical Assistants are integral to our overall function. Our Medical Assistants play a key role supporting patients during wellness exams, pregnancy care, family planning and gynecologic issues.
SCHEDULE: The Medical Assistant will work 32 hours per week, day shift only. When needed, the Medical Assistant may travel to our women's health clinics in North Seattle and Mill Creek.
Monitor and manage the flow of patients through the various provider sessions
Prepare charts, patients and the environment for treatment
Conduct basic diagnostic tests and assist providers in various procedures (such as pap, IUD placement/removal, colposcopy, LEEP, and ultrasound)
Administer medication and injections as ordered by the medical provider
Communicate with providers and team members about patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic tests and symptomatology
Provide basic patient education and document both their teaching and care
Ensure that the clinic is opened, stocked, cleaned, and closed each day
Perform clerical and reception duties, including ordering, scheduling patients and other support as required
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
2 years of current or recent medical assisting experience
Recent experience in a women’s health environment
Familiarity with EPIC EMR software
Ability to learn and master practices quickly
Excellent attendance; prompt and dependable
A positive, confident, can-do attitude is a plus!
