The Zuckerman group of Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, USA is both NSF and NIH-funded, engaging in a range of theoretical and applied biophysical research efforts. We are recruiting a quantitative postdoctoral researcher.
Portland is very bike friendly, scenic, and has a vibrant culture around music, coffee, beer, and food. The Pacific Ocean, Cascade Mountains, and the stunning Columbia Gorge are all less than 90 minutes away.
Scientific research on projects as directed by Prof. Zuckerman to include one or more the following:
(i) statistical mechanics simulation and analysis methods for protein folding and/or binding, focusing on the weighted ensemble approach
(ii) a project with experimental collaborators investigating structural heterogeneity and allostery in a multivalent protein system, potentially involving molecular simulations and Bayesian inference from experimental data and
(iii) trajectory analysis of cell dynamics in collaboration with cancer biologists
Computing as required on local and external resources, careful curation of all data, and development and maintenance of software on suitable repositories
Attendance and presentation at lab meetings, contributions to publications as requested (writing, figures, data), contributions to applications for funding as requested (writing, figures, data); and presentations of successful research at one or more national or international meetings per year
Supervision of graduate or other students as requested

It is the only place in Oregon that grants doctoral degrees in medicine, dentistry and nursing. OHSU cares for more than 251,000 patients each year from around the region and takes a leadership role in contributing to solutions involving the health of the state and the nation, such as health care access and transparency, ethics and workforce shortage. Beyond providing critical health care services, quality education and cutting-edge research, OHSU also is a key economic and social force in the Northwest. With an annual operating budget of $2.06 billion and more than 14,000 employees, OHSU is Portland?s largest employer.
