The Interactive Media & Games Division within USC's School of Cinematic Arts is seeking an adjunct faculty member in the field of Interactive Media and Games with a specialty in game studies.
We are looking for an academic or working writer with experience teaching critical theory of games and interaction. Our program is a vibrant and exciting community of designers, scholars and researchers, committed to the advancement of the digital arts, and it is situated within a larger school dedicated to the craft of storytelling and user experience from diverse perspectives.
The position will teach introductory critical theory and writing courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, with topics ranging from introduction to games history to introduction to theories of play and critical writing.Â
Minimum Education:Â Â
Experience teaching students in game history or media theory.
1+ years as a published critic, academic writer, or theorist.
Good communication skills, project planning, and professional rigor and ethics.
Master's Degree in Game Design, Media Theory or a related field.
5+ years as a researcher, professor, or writer dealing with games or interactive media.
Multiple published articles in games journal, talks at design and theory conferences.
Experience teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in game theory and criticism.
