Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent). Five (5) years of full-time research experience in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology and Oncology, to include at least three (3) years of research experience following attainment of a doctoral degree.
Preferred Qualifications: Research education/experience in Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, and cancer cell Metastasis.
Brief Description of Duties: Stony Brook University has a Senior Research Scientist position available to lead the research in the Cancer Center and the Department of Pathology. The incumbent will independently design research and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will serve as the lead scientist in the Lab.
Plan, design and implement research experiments in the fields of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology and Oncology to achieve objective(s) in research in Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, and Metastasis).
Preparation of papers for publications, presentation of results in scientific conferences, workshops and seminars.
Preparation of grant proposals and application of grants.
Collaborate with members of scientific communities, both nationally and internationally.
Supervise, plan, organize and evaluate the activities of others including postdoctoral associates, research support positions and graduate assistants.
Maintain all laboratory records consistent with University policy.
Other duties as assigned.
