Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a physical, biological science or a related field. Two (2) years of full-time experience in a lab (research, clinical or reference) with advanced research-related/laboratory activities.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a physical, biological science or a related field. Three (3) years of full-time experience in a lab (research, clinical or reference) with advanced research-related/laboratory activities to include Electron microscopy experience.
Brief Description of Duties: The Senior Research Support Specialist will provide a more broad range of complex laboratory and research-related tasks. Working under general supervision in support of a research project or program, the incumbent will operate equipment, carry out test procedures as well as collate and interpret data using special methods. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain the effective operation of the program.
Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty, and professionals to advance the goals of the project.
Conduct experiments; provide research support by conducting tests using specialized methods for data collection; interpret the collected data.
Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary.
Prepare reports, drafts, and/or manuscripts based on the collected data.
May develop and maintain databases. and other duties
Supervisory Responsibilities: May coordinate field and laboratory work and/or develop and maintain databases. Incumbents may be responsible for orienting/training others to the project/program and checking work of less experienced employees as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
