Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Administrative Assistant. Reporting to the Regional Director of the Northwest New Jersey Small Business Development Center (NW NJSBDC).
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to the following.
Assists pre-venture, start up and established business by providing one-on-one consulting, training and events within Morris, Warren and Sussex counties;
Provides administrative assistance to the Regional Director and the center.
Supports the day-to-day operations, as well as providing customer service to new and ongoing small business clients, community organizations and stakeholders.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education
and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing. Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication and time management skills;
Exceptional customer service skills, friendly demeanor with clients, consultants and stakeholders;
Self-starter and takes initiative;
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to remain flexible to changes;
Strong computer skills/literacy.
Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent education and/or experience;
Knowledge or experience working with small businesses, entrepreneurs or community organizations;
Prior administrative or budget experience.
Knowledgeable in MS Office, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Constant Contact, Zoho, Adobe Suite, etc.
