This position coordinates and oversees the activities of the custodial staff in a group of campus buildings; trains and evaluates employees; plans staffing and time schedules; enforces departmental and University rules; resolves employee complaints and grievances; prepares forms and records to maintain working inventory; responds to emergencies, inquiries, and complaints from faculty, students, tenants, and the public; inspects and assesses problems, damage, and condition of buildings to facilitate repair and maintain safety standards.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired from two to three years of college, technical or vocations school with coursework in employee relations and custodial methods; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervision, management, union contracts, knowledge of products, equipment, methods and cleaning problems and a basic understanding of the mechanical and electrical systems in buildings; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience supervising custodial operations; expertise in Microsoft Office products; knowledge of facilities operations; knowledge of MSU policies and practices; use of database software, including EBS and FAMIS; good customer relations/service skills; ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team; ability to present concepts strategies to various audiences; solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task yet give attention to detail with frequent interruptions; ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously; aptitude and willingness to learn new software and data analysis tools and methodology.
