The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is seeking a Farm Technician for the Beef Unit located in Woodford County; Versailles, KY. This position has responsibility for ensuring that animal nutrition and animal care are maintained at the high standards necessary not only for successful, reliable research, but for overall animal welfare. Oversees the day to day feeding and care of research animals to include, but not limited to: feed, clean, exercise animals daily; observe cattle for abnormalities or deviation from experimental protocol (sickness, feed, water, mineral, bedding, etc.) and ensure that research protocols and animal well-being are observed. Gives support to numerous research projects and investigators, to include faculty and graduate students. Responsible for maintaining research facility; service Beef Unit and experimental supplies and equipment. Maintain surgical records and drug inventories. Possess a knowledge of computer software programs used routinely at the Beef Unit. Will require working evenings, weekends and/or holiday for animal care and/or research projects.
