Lead large and complex strategic sourcing initiatives, which includes negotiating contracts with suppliers and benchmarking University contracts with the objective of generating and implementing efficient sourcing strategies. Prepare business cases by conducting detailed and comprehensive data and spend analysis, identifying potential savings opportunities utilizing sourcing best practice and total cost of ownership measurement methodology, developing strategic sourcing strategies and executing sourcing activities such as Sourcing Event development, reverse auctions. Analyze and calculate expenditures and recommend methods to reduce costs and increase efficiencies at the University. Oversee the Supplier Diversity and Sustainability Management program at the University, which entails evaluating suppliers performance against contract SLAs and resolving gaps. Manage the Strategic Sourcing team.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Materials Management, or related field.
Required Experience: 10+ years years of relevant strategic sourcing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sourcing in large, complex, global agreements and environments. Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing large, multi-year agreements. Strong, proven negotiation experience with quantifiable ongoing savings results required. Ability to persuade and influence both the supplier base and internal University clients. Demonstrated people leadership skills. Experience managing Procurement categories including University Operations and Professional Services.
Preferred Experience: 7+ years Strategic sourcing complex categories such as facilities, services, information technology, etc.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proven superior negotiation skills including negotiation strategy development and successful execution of strategy. Proven methodology for benchmarking against higher education or industry savings targets. Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time and source various, complex categories including but not limited to facilities, dining services, and professional services at a global level. Advanced data collection and analytical skills including the ability to normalize and categorize data. Demonstrated ability to aggregate data from disparate sources and make assumptions based on incomplete data sets. Demonstrated ability to develop data-driven business cases including demand forecasts, category trends, accurate savings estimations, and a total cost of ownership measurement methodology Ability to benchmark contracts for pricing and efficiencies recognizing opportunities for renegotiation which includes nurturing win-win scenarios. Experience negotiating at the C suite level with suppliers. Demonstrated ability to make effective business decisions, including the ability to apply logical thinking and exercise sound judgment. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Purchasing Managers (CPPM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) preferred.
