The Director of Alumni Relations designs and leads a comprehensive engagement strategy for nearly 82,000 Steinhardt alumni throughout the United States as well as globally. A key member of the Development and Alumni Relations leadership team, the Director strategically advances both national and international alumni programs with the goal of increasing alumni engagement, providing tangible benefits to alumni, and developing support for current students. The Director of Alumni Relations plays a significant role in further solidifying and building Steinhardt’s alumni programs as the Institute deepens its relationship with New York University, and works closely with the Alumni President and Steinhardt volunteers to maximize the services sought from and provided to alumni. The Director works closely with the Dean, faculty and other senior leadership at Steinhardt, leading and participating in numerous collaborative activities with colleagues in Student Services and Admissions, Development, and Marketing/Communications, and actively partners with other NYU schools to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of the Institute.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Master's degree
Required Experience: Seven to ten years+ progressively responsible experience in a higher education environment, including in alumni relations, admissions, student services, fundraising, or related field.
Preferred Experience: Related experience in an academic institution preferred. Prior experience managing staff a plus.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to envision, strategize, and build constituency programs and activities. Proven track record spearheading and marketing alumni services, events, and programs. Strong planning and implementation experience. Must be highly persuasive with excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and motivating and developing volunteer leadership. Budget oversight and management. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. Possesses valid driver’s license or ability to obtain same.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience managing volunteers or working with Boards.
