POSITIONSUMMARY Under the direction of the Director and Assistant Directors of Student Life, the Commuter Life GA will assist in building relationships with commuter students and supervising student-led programs focused on commuter student engagement. This position contributes to Student Development retention and persistence efforts by maintaining engaging and educational programs focused on the development of a sense of community for students residing off-campus. This position also partners with others in Student Development for campus-wide programs.
Full tuition remission for an Ohio Christian University graduate program.
Free housing and utilities (covered by the university).
Equivalent of 14 meals per week (active when Dining Services are available).
$3,000 annual stipend paid bi-monthly.
Foster an engaging and thriving Commuter Life experience.
Develop and implement programming and support services for commuter student population and provide ongoing assessment to track outcome-based success.
Participate in on-call rotation with other student life staff responding to student concerns.
Provide insight to student success needs of commuter students on a semesterly basis.
Plan and execute programs and engagement opportunities that seek to include commuter students into the larger student body.
Create and implement creative and effective marketing for events, programs, and outings.
Research and benchmark best practices and field standards in commuter student affairs.
Assist main instructor of Commuter First Year Experience class.
Assist in the formation of Commuter Learning Communities around majors or schools of the university
Develop and advise Commuter Life Club to help commuter students have a bigger voice in the larger campus community.
Coordinate local service opportunities for commuter population.
Perform additional Student Life tasks as needed by supervisors.
Maintain regular Student Development office hours.

Bachelor's degree required.
1-2 years' experience in an undergraduate student involvement/leadership role.
Required enrollment in an OCU graduate program is expected to maintain this position.

Ability to connect with college-aged students.

Working knowledge of Student Development Theory.
Ability to help others work through conflict and reconciliation.
