Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative

Responsibilities: The individual in this position will work with three ongoing studies (ARIC-NCS, MESA, and ACHIEVE) located in the Epidemiologic Clinical Research Center located on the West Bank Campus. All are long-term studies in which maintaining good will and cooperation of the previously recruited participants is critical. The participants are currently 65 years of age or older. This person will screen, schedule and accompany participants for appointments at the MRI center on the East Bank Campus. The individual in this position will be required to follow all COVID safety protocols. Prior to interacting with participants, mandatory training on COVID-19 risk factors, symptoms, and protocols will be required. PPE will be provided.
Essential Job Duties:
Brain MRI (75%) • Interview participants to determine MRI eligibility • Obtain informed consent from participants • Assist in obtaining medical records (when necessary) for scan approval • Schedule MRIs • Send appointment confirmation letters • Make appointment reminder calls • Arrange taxis for participant travel to the MRI center, as needed • Meet participants at the MRI center and help them get ready for their scan Data Entry (25%) • Cross train and learn other duties and responsibilities of the studies as needed
Starting Pay Range: $18.11 to $25.03 per hour Work hours: Days with some flexibility on start/end times Work days: M-F Remote work: Some of the work may be completed remotely

Required Qualifications • Three years of related education and/or experience • Basic computer skills • Reliable transportation, must be able to travel from the ECRC building on West Bank campus to the MRI center near TCF stadium on the East Bank campus (1.6 miles away) to meet participants scheduled for a MRI (but NOT transport them) • Ability to pass MRI center safety training. The MRI Center has some of the largest magnets in the world and all visitors to the building need to follow safety protocols. • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing with elderly people of diverse racial and educational backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize complex assignments and complete tasks in a timely manner. Initiative, assertiveness and flexibility to negotiate priorities and timelines among numerous tasks. • Familiarity with basic data management • Experience in working with health data • Experience adhering to rigid protocol standards • Experience working as part of a team • Ability to work independently
