This position supports the Director of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology and provides high-level administrative support to the Director with some support to senior leadership. The Assistant plays an important role in providing a welcoming environment in the Director's Office.
Duties include: welcoming and helping visitors to the Director; drafting, editing and proofreading correspondence and other documents; preparing presentation materials; managing the Director's schedule; taking notes at meetings involving the Director; organizing complex meetings and appointments including room preparation, catering, off-site accommodations and travel arrangements; answering routine inquiries, creating and maintaining filing systems. Support for senior leadership will include activities such as: processing Associate appointments, ordering supplies, , renewing listings, memberships, and some website work requiring attention to detail and general computer skills. This position must maintain confidentiality and a diplomatic tone at all times. Performs other duties as required.

Three or more years of related experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
B.A. degree. The successful candidate will have a welcoming manner, enthusiasm and a strong sense of professionalism. Excellent organizational skills are required together with tact, judgement and attention to detail. Ability to take initiative, handle multiple projects and set priorities necessary and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion. The role requires strong oral and interpersonal skills necessary for communication with multiple constituencies. Excellent writing skills are important.
